From Ginny Graves, CUBE National Outreach Sharon writes, "Joe Robertson with the Kansas City Star is writing an article on how museums are trying to meet the curriculum standards of the states in order to help the teachers with "No Child Left Behind" and the problems it has caused. He will be contacting other museums in the KC area as well as teachers.
We know how the teachers are struggling right now and this is a step in the right direction." Kudos Sharon and Joe!!! And Shawnee Town!!!
To access the site: http://www.shawneetown.org or go to the "City of Shawnee, KS" website -just type that in and you will come up with the City's home page. You will see Shawnee Town's logo. Click on that, then click on "Educational Services" and you will see an entire section on "Box City." Standards for both Kansas and Missouri show up there.

Re: Curriculum Standards
Sharon Uhler, Curator of Education, Shawnee Town, shows us what their museum is doing in relation to "standards. They used Box City as their curriculum example. This might be useful for you to share with other teachers and administrators and also as an opportunity for some free public relations. I like the format and the clean crisp look of the site. Since standards will vary from state-to state, and even among individual schools, allow workshop time for teachers to match activities with their own standards.
