Michael Gray

Michael Gray is a Program Director at Child and Youth Friendly Calgary where he coordinates and develops innovative programs that provide opportunities for children and youth to explore the built and natural environment. After completing his Masters in City Planning from the University of Manitoba in 1998, Michael moved to Calgary to develop and later coordinate the Building Blocks program for Child and Youth Friendly Calgary.

The Building Blocks program encourages Calgary's younger citizens to get involved in exploring the built and natural environments of their city. Through programming that focuses on the areas of heritage planning, community planning and environmental design Building Blocks provides opportunities for youth to learn about their community. Over the last five years Michael has created several award winning programs and projects that have pushed the envelope on community planning methodologies particularly in the areas of community planning and youth. Michael, as a member of the CUBE Cadre, presents CUBE workshops nationally.
