Box City at Detroit Festival of Arts
Janice Wilson reports: The Detroit Festival of the Arts brings all community arts partners together to create a September week of events for adults and kids. The Box City pictured here is under the umbrella of the Daimler Chrysler Children's Fair Stage and runs all day on Saturday. The participants receive a permit from the Mayor of Box City, discuss buildings and city planning with urban planners from the community, and choose a type of structure to create that they place on a fictional grid. The Children's Aid Society students created the mural and loaned it to the Festival.
